WHAT IS THE SUPER BOWL?

The Super Bowl is the annual playoff championship game of the National Football League (NFL). It has served as the final game of every NFL season since 1966. Beginning in 2022, the game is played on the second Sunday in February. The Super Bowl is among the world's most-watched single sporting events and frequently commands the largest audience among all American broadcasts during the year. It is second only to the UEFA Champions League final as the most watched annual club sporting event worldwide.

WHAT IS AMERICAN FOOTBALL?

American football, known in the United States and Canada simply as football, is a competitive team sport. The object of the game is to score points by advancing the football into the opposing team's end zone. The ball can be advanced by carrying the ball, or by throwing or handing it from one teammate to the other. Points can be scored in a variety of ways, including carrying the ball over the goal line, throwing the ball to another player past the goal line or kicking it through the goal posts on the opposing side. The winner is the team with the most points when the time expires and the last play ends. However, tied games can occur.

Outside of the United States and Canada, the sport is usually referred to as American football (or sometimes as gridiron or gridiron football) to differentiate it from other football games.

HALF-TIME SHOW

Early Super Bowls featured a half-time show consisting of marching bands from local colleges or high schools; but as the popularity of the game increased, popular singers and musicians performed during its pre-game ceremonies and the half-time show, or simply sang the national anthem of the USA or "America the Beautiful".Unlike regular season or playoff games, thirty minutes are allocated for the Super Bowl halftime. Many great music stars, like Michael Jackson, Madonna, U2 and Whitney Houston, have performed for the show.
